In her delightful book, LET'S PLAY GOLF, Florine Hager mixes technical advice with entertaining stories of her life as a golf instructor. In conversational style, she breathes breadth and depth into what has always seemed to me a rather pallid game. I appreciated the author's insights and her perspective, not to mention her occasional, uplifting humor. This book is a joy to read, whether one plays golf or not.

The first chapter describes the overlapping grip, the one used by the majority of golfers worldwide. Each chapter covers a fundamental, with a short story from Florine Hager’s lesson tee that points to the main emphasis in the chapter. In this book, you will find a simple method for playing different shots with the club designed for that shot, understanding how that equipment is used, and the importance of choosing the right club for each shot. Putting is the simplest shot in golf and it is wise to learn to stroke a putt properly before going to the next easiest shot, the chip shot. It is well worth the time and patience it takes to understand these two simple strokes before incorporating what you learn from them into the full swing.
